The fameous beach in Las Galeras « Playa Ricon »

This beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Perfect for swimming, Playa Rincon is a 5 km long white sand beach, surrounded by coconut palms and almond trees.

There are several ways to go ...

¬ By car: It is recommended to have a Jeep or an SUV for the 30 minutes ride on the dirt roads. We went there by taxi during our day tour of the hotels. This beach is worth seeing!

¬ By boat: From the public beach of Las Galeras, you can easily find a fisherman who will take you there. Approximately 20 minutes, $15 per person.

¬ On Foot: It s a 2 hour walk between deserted beaches and tropical forests.

The beach also has two restaurants, where you can eat very good seafood prepared in Dominican style. Ask for a « pan de coco », bread made with coconut. A cold beer will make you forget the trip to get there!

Playa Rincon is a secluded beach, surrounded by majestic mountains and lush vegetations. You will not see more than a dozen visitors, who tend to stay away from one another on the beach. There are few sellers and you can rent a chair for the day ($1.50). The sand is soft and comfortable. Bring your beach towel.

There are no jet skis, no parasailing, volleyball net. Playa Rincon is for those who want to experience an unspoiled beach.
